"What would I miss?! I have all the badges, I need to train, beat the League, then my father! Not like they'd go missing any time soon, right? I'm going at a good enough pace!" He smiled with pride while thumbing his chest with his free hand, then looked at Hikari. "I guess so. But ya know, it's 'cause we're friends and all! You always find them in the end!"
He felt his hand getting squeezed, as his cheeks grew a tinge hotter. He decided it was just his imagination, nothing important, as he continued to lead her towards the snowiest city in Sinnoh, remembering that Tor' was behind them; but not noticing the knowing looks the grass type was giving the two trainers.

She shrugged. "I don't know. Things, I guess. There's more to life than just battling, you know! I bet your mom misses you, and Lucas and I never get to see you anymore. Ah, never mind. It's not really important," Hikari said, shaking her head as if the thoughts would disappear instantly.
"Yeah," she murmured in reply, "you're right." Hikari absentmindedly held on tighter and moved closer until Piplup squawked from atop her head and glared at Jun. The penguin Pokemon leaned over and pecked her friend's head, jealous of the attention he was getting from his trainer.
"Piplup, stop that!"

"My mom? I call her every chance I--" He stopped himself and glared at Hikari suspiciously. "She's fine. And he's fine, and you're fine! So I don't see what's the big deal about not seeing you guys often! I mean, I still get to see you, right?! So don't worry!"
Then, pain started settling in.
"Ow ow ow ow! Tell your bird thing to stop!"

Hikari bit back a laugh and pulled out a Pokeball to return the upset Pokemon. "Oops... Are you alright?"

Jun rubbed his head where he felt a bump starting to form. He glared at Hikari's piplup, a fire starting to burn in those orange eyes of his. He was too upset to even notice that he held Hikari's hand tighter, pulling her closer to him, as he marched ahead, his face frozen.
"I'm fine! Nothing wrong, nope! Let's just get to the stupid city." Mumble grumble grumble.

She sighed and stopped walking, still holding onto his hand, and forcing him to stop with her. "At least let me look at your head. Piplup has a pretty strong beak, you know. He just gets...jealous when other people take my attention away from him for too long."

"So slow!" Jun complained but stopped anyway, lowering his head so Hikari can take a look. The faster he got this over with, the faster they could get moving. But it still amused Tor' to no end that the young trainers didn't seem to want to let go of their hands.
"W-Well, your Piplup should learn that you have others to care for as well! How many other people has he peaked?!"

Hikari rolled her eyes at his usual exclamation and finally let go of his hand. Being shorter than him, she stood on her tiptoes and took a look at the spot Piplup had attacked. "Hmm. It's a little red-- Oh, I think you have a small bump... Sorry."
She retracted to her normal height and winced, rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. "Yeah, yeah. I know. Well, he got Lucas in the nose once. That was pretty bad. Oh! And Riley, too."

He frowned while glaring off at the small blue penguin Pokemon, feeling anger swell up inside him while feeling the bump on his head grow. He brought two fingers up to his eyes, then pointed them to Piplup, and mouthed I'm watching you.
"Lucas, too? Why Piplup do this out of jealousy?! And Ri-- wait, who's Riley?" He raised a brow and stared at Hikari with suspicious eyes.

Piplup looked away and stuck its beak up in the air indignantly. His battle with Jun wasn't over yet.
"Yeah... I think he actually gave Lucas a bloody nose, too. Not a bad one, but there was blood. I spent about a week trying to make it up to him, even though Lucas kept telling me it was alright." She look back up at her friend, not realizing that she'd never told him about Riley. She smiled, her cheeks turning slightly pink at the thought of the charming, older trainer. "O-oh! Riley is a trainer I met on Iron Island. He was the one who gave me the egg that I get my Lucario from."

"You need to control that bird of yours." He said while glaring at Piplup, sticking his tongue out then facing back ahead, noticing the city closer than ever. However he didn't seem to notice Hikari's expressions when mentioning Riley, Jun was too busy trying to get the city so he could train.
"Iron Island, huh? ...Maybe I can train there, instead. But wait--!" He looked back at her with wide eyes. "He gave you an egg?! That turned into a Lucario?!"
Torterra shook his head.

Hikari raised an eyebrow, still walking along with him. "You never made it to Iron Island? You probably should head over there. It's a good training spot." Hikari tilted her head at his exclamation. "Y-yeah? Huh, I thought I told you all of this already. Besides, what's so special about it?"

"What am I doing in this stupid snowy city, then?! I knew I should have called Dad for advice!" He pouted as he crossed his arms, sulking. "I knew I couldn't become stronger here, especially if I already beat its stupid leader! I guess I'll have to go back after your battle."
Torterra's nose collied with Jun's backside once more, making Jun grumble.
"What's with you today, man?!"

Hikari snorted and rolled her eyes. "Well, according to Candice, she let you win, so she can't be that stupid. Besides, at least your visit here wasn't a complete waste-- We got to hang out!"

"She did not!" Stomp. With. Each. Word. His anger was something that needed to be worked on. "I won because I'm strong as hell and you know it! No one can beat me, nor let me win! No one!"
'Cept, ya know, other gym leaders that he lost first then had to re-battle. Or his dad. And probably the Elite Four.
Uh-huh.
"But I guess seeing you again made the trip all the more bearable."
