Fire looked up at the sky briefly, taking the time to adjust the cap on his head. The sky was a perfect blue, not a cloud in sight. Fire liked these types of days. It allowed him to think. Thinking was exactly what Fire was doing nowadays. He had been cooped up in his house for a few weeks, thinking of what to do next. Defeating the Elite Four and becoming Champion was great and all... but now what? Spending his time waiting for people to challenge him did NOT sound like anything Fire wanted to do.
Fire decided to take his time and walk around Pallet Town, since he had nothing better to do. He walked by Leaf's house and thought about saying hello, but didn't want to disturb anyone since it was pretty early in the morning. Passing by Green's house and briefly wondering what he was up to, he made his way to a small hill that overlooked part of Pallet Town. He approached the big tree at the top of the hill, and sat down at the base. He was waiting for something. A person, an idea, he didn't know what, but he sat there, waiting for it.

Green had gone to Pallet Town last night because his sister was making a big fuss about not having seen her in over a month, in which the memory had caused his green eyes to rolls heavily. he was feeling restless, not being able to sleep, so he decided to sneak out of his room, and do something reckless. Then he made a "tch" sound and disregarded that former thought; if he did anything stupid, Daisy would have his head.
That's when he noticed a lone figure walking through Pallet. The gym leader raised a brow and follow, with silence and precise sneakitude I can create words hush. In which then he finally spotted the figure to be nothing interesting but his old friend rival, Fire.
"Yo, what are you doin' up so late? Shouldn't ya be, sleeping or something?"

Fire looked up, scanning the bottom of the hill. He recognized that voice anywhere. Finally spotting the source of the outcry, he got up from the tree, his smirk turning slowly into a grin as he flew down the hill to meet Green.
"Heya, Green! It's been a while, hasn't it?" Fire said to his rival, finally stopping right in front of him. "Naw, I've got plenty of sleep. Don't worry about me!" Fire thought about what he just said, knowing Green might actually take his advise, so he struck up another conversation.
"So, old buddy, what brings you around these parts?"

"Plenty of sleep, eh? You must be getting that, since I haven't seen ya or Leaf around in forever! Some friends you guys are." Of course, he was merely joking, a mock version of puppy eyes and pout taking over his face, until he started laughing hysterically.
"I could never keep that up for long." he shakes his head, smiling with great amusement. "I got bored at the gym again, nobody has yet to beat me again. But, ya know how I do."

"Oh, pssh, you know those fake puppy eyes never worked on me!" Fire said, as he joined in laughing with his rival.
"So, no one's been up to scruff at Viridian, huh? How's about you and I have a little battle sometime, for old times sake?" Fire challenged. However, right after saying this, his expression turned semi-serious.
"Hey Green, I've been meaning to ask you. Have you ever... been outside Kanto before?"

"Nah, all these little trainers think they're hot stuff until they step into my gym! 'Oh Green, you're so strong!' or 'Green, I could never defeat you!' It's almost pathetic." Smirk. "But a rematch, huh? I'm good anytime ol' pal, just be prepared for some serious ass kickin' for ya."
Green's cockiness and conceitedness was always left to be desired for.
"Have I ever left Kanto...?" He blinked at the suddenly random question, then scratching his head with thought. "Well... I've been to Johto, before. Mostly because Gramps wanted me to do some research stuff for Elm or somethin' but I never really traveled around it." He answered with a shrug. He wondered why Fire would ask such a question, considering to Green, leaving Kanto almost seemed like the biggest taboo in the world- but maybe because he's a gym leader and can't really leave for several reasons.

Fire heard the skepticism in Green's voice and stared at the sky out of mild embarrassment. Small white clouds had begun to form. Scratching the back of his neck, he said to Green, "Well, ya know... I've kinda been... getting somewhat bored here. I mean, I love Kanto and all, but..." Fire tore his gaze away from the sky and looked at Green.
"...I really wanna explore the rest of the Pokemon world. I mean, Professor Oak said himself that there are many other species of Pokemon that don't exist in Kanto. It would be great to see other Pokemon besides Kanto's, wouldn't it?" Fire started pacing around, his voice slowly rising with excitement.
"Just think of all the Pokemon I'd see. All the trainers I could meet!" By now, Fire was getting a little too excited and crazy. He realizes this and quickly calms down.
"I know it's a little bit crazy, and almost like a sin, but I really think I could do this. I need a new adventure."

"Why would it be a sin?" Green scoffs with a shrug, a smirk of amusement now overtaking his features. "You're a trainer, and a trainer travels. Nothin' weird 'bout that. But if you do end up leavin', I demand a present back. I never get to leave, so I wanna see what the big fuss about other regions are."

Oh, how embarrassing. Fire looked at his rival, a smile etching it's way across his face. There were butterflies in his stomach as he imagined setting off from home into places unknown to him. He then took his right hand in his rivals, and gave him a firm handshake.
"You betcha!" Fire said, a little too loudly as a flock of Pidgey took off from the tree on the hill, disturbed by the noise. He then turned around, and ran off towards his house to start preparing from his departure. With his hand waving in the air, as to say goodbye, he shouted:
"Catch ya later, Green!"
