{H}istory:
Growing up, Bugsy was one of a handful of kids in the tiny town of Azalea but, unfortunately, he didn’t get along very well with the other children; though he tried to be friendly, he was often bullied thanks to his girlish appearance. His parents did they best they could to help - regularly telling him that he’d grow up to be bigger and stronger than all the other boys, and even allowing him to go off exploring on his own, as a way to escape – but they were often too busy collecting charcoal to sell to the local Mart to actually confront the parents of these bullies. Still, he took their words of encouragement to heart and his daily adventures did amount to something.
With so many dark pockets and old myths surrounding it, the Ilex Forest was a perfect place for Bugsy to hide out in when he didn’t want to be bothered; his parents knew the forest inside-and-out as well, so they knew he’d be safe there. He would spend hours upon hours with the many bug pokemon that populated the woods, happy to simply watch them in their natural habitat. He easily identified with them - being a tiny, often underestimated creature himself – and this bond sparked his obsession with the creatures.
His manic research into the field of bug pokemon eventually lead Bugsy to Goldenrod’s Bug Catching Competition; though he originally joined simply to see and possibly take home rarer species of bug pokemon, his tri-weekly visits to the National Park helped cultivate his skill as a trainer as well. Eventually he began to easily blow through the competition which, coupled with his young age, quickly earned Bugsy a reputation within the bug catching community. However, it was his creation of the Fury Cutter TM that brought him into the general spotlight, eventually earning him the titles “The Walking Bug Pokémon Encyclopedia" and Gym Leader.
Nowadays Bugsy still lives with his parents, but they’ve moved to a slightly larger house since he became a part of the Johto League, and they no longer collect charcoal. Their old home now belongs to a family who is well known for their mischievous farfetch’d. Bugsy still travels a lot in his free time to collect bug pokemon, so his PC is filled with various species, some of which he uses in battle, but most of which he just keeps for research and companionship.
{P}ersonality: :
Bugsy’s the kind of person who stays upbeat and optimistic in any situation. He firmly believes that if you work hard and put your mind to something, then you can absolutely accomplish your goals. Of course, this attitude can seem very naïve to some people, and he is rather oblivious about a lot of things that kids his age should know; his parents have sheltered him a bit, and there are some life lessons he couldn’t learn from bugs. He’s a humble boy, and he avoids flaunting his accomplishments or age over other trainers.

{S}how me your skills:
Waiting for challengers was always the hardest part for Bugsy. From his perch at the back of the gym he could watch the spinarak carts carrying the current challanger back and forth, side to side, as he attempted to simultaneously battle the gym trainers and figure out the puzzle. It generally didn’t take long for trainers to find their way to Bugsy – the young gym leader had made sure the maze wasn’t too difficult – but the anticipation still made him antsy. To pass the time, he closely observed the challenger’s battles, both to figure out his strategy and to mentally cheer him on.
Finally, the moment came when it was Bugsy’s turn to battle, bringing a Cheshire Cat’s smile to his face. As usual, this challenger wore a cocky expression, on that clearly said “this is gonna be too easy”. He certainly wouldn’t be smirking like that at the end of the battle, though Bugsy never focused on that sort of thing anyway. Instead, he introduced himself the same way he’d greet a new friend, and with that the battle began.
