Hikari approached the gym entrance and peeked inside. It was the next afternoon, and Candice had scheduled their battle for then. She was anxious, but she had the feeling of excitement in the pit of her stomach that often made an appearance during gym battles.
This was her seventh badge, and she was so close to collecting all of the badges. All that was left after this was Sunyshore.
"Candice? Are you here yet?"

Candice giggled from her seat. She had three pokeballs in her hand, moving the ping-pong-sized balls between her fingers. She stood up, pocketing two of them.
"Glad to see you could pull yourself away from your boy-toy long enough to challenge me." She began to walk town the steps towards the battlefield. "I must warn you though, since I told you about holding back on Pearl, it wouldn't be fair to make you think this isn't a 'real' battle. I hope you're good!"
She jumped down onto her side of the field. "Here are the rules! Three on three battle, and you can switch any of your three with each other at any time you'd like!" Expanding the pokeball in her hand to normal size, she threw it up in the air.
"Go, Snover!" A red light shot out from the ball, and a snover materialized onto the battlefield.

Jun had promised Hikari that he'd be there, and though he was close to forgetting and was about to leave for Iron Island near Canalave, Tor' had rudely reminded him of his friend's gym battle by letting him fall into the snow again near the gym. It's not that Jun didn't want to watch her match, or lose time in his training schedule; he really did forget. And something inside him made him feel bad for that. However, he ignored that feeling, regarding it as nothing but just a tinge of guilt that will pass on later, as he walked into the gym, noticing that the battle had already started. He smirked slightly, reminding himself of his victory in this gym, as he took a seat by the bleachers to watch.
"Hey Hikari, you better win! Or else I'll have to fine you for losing and wasting my time!"

Volkner looked up, peering at the overhead sign, indicating that he was in front of the Snowpoint City gym. He pulls his hands of his pockets, and rubs them together rapidly -- he still wasn't used to Snowpoint City's chilled life. He now looked straight ahead, and pushed open the doors to the gym, noticing a battle had already started, with his fellow Gym Leader's Snover on the field. He looks to the opposite side of Candice, and notices a mid-teenaged girl, wearing clothes inappropriate for cold weather. He stared in disbelief at how someone could wear such a short skirt in such weather, but decided to shrug the thought off, and walked over to the bleachers, near some blonde kid, who was watching the battle enthusiastically.

"I told you, it's not like that, Candice!" Hikari's face immediately flushed with color again, but she wouldn't let herself get distracted like this right before a gym battle. "Let's just get this battle started--!" She shook her head and pulled out a Pokeball and released her Rapidash onto the field.
Before she could even call an attack, Hikari noticed two visitors in the gym. She recognized Jun's voice well enough, but there was another blonde sitting in the bleachers that she'd never seen before. Her first thought was that he was maybe Candice's boyfriend, but she didn't seem to acknowledge him, so she ruled that out. Still, his presence made her nervous, and she couldn't help but be curious about him.

"Haha, riiiiiiiiight." she giggled, placing a hand over her mouth. "Whatever. Anyway, a Rapidash! An excellent choice, but I wouldn't underestimate my Snover's ability to overcome it's weaknesses!"
Her face had "You're going down" written all over it, to the point where she hadn't even noticed Volkner's arrival yet.
((since rapidash obviously has a higher speed i'm letting you go first))

Hikari ignored Candice's words, already focused on the battle. She called out the moves to her Pokemon. "Rapidash, use Flare Blitz!"
Rapidash charged forward and carried out the attack.

The attack hit Snover dead on, causing him to fly through the air, landing on his back.
"Come on Snover! We prepared for this! Get back up and use mist, just like we practiced!"
The pokemon didn't respond at first, but it slowly got up, and raised it's arms. A thick fog shot out from it's body, encompassing the battlefield.
"Alright! Now, Ice Shard!" With that, some of the mist in the air deposited into ice, and shot towards the opponent.

Hikari knew there was no way to avoid the attack, but it didn't matter much. Ice moves hardly affected Rapidash.
"Just take the attack and follow it up with Inferno! I don't think Snover will be able to take much more!"

Indeed, it couldn't. Inferno hit Snover spot on, quickly knocking it out.
"Alright, you may have gotten past Snover, but let's see how well it fares against Weavile!" A beam of red light singaled the arrival of the Sharp Claw pokemon. However, before Candice could say another word, Weavile used Faint attack on Rapidash.

Rapidash recoiled from the attack, wincing and taking sufficient damage. However, it wasn't enough to knock her out just yet.
"Take down!"

Before Candice could even react again, Weavile prepared a Metal claw. When the Rapidash game, she jumped up, and as the attack collided, she drew her claws across the Rapidash as she flew by.
"Weavile! Stop for a second and listen! UGH!" Candice bit her lip and and stared worriedly at her Weavile.

Jun watched with an annoyed look on his face. The Weavile did the exact same thing back when he battled it, and wondered why Candice couldn't keep much control on her own Pokemon. It was rather odd for a gym leader to not have so much control, right?
"Hey Hikari, watch out for that Weavile! It doesn't listen too well! Try to dodge and hit it as much as you can!"

Hikari furrowed her brow as she watched Weavile act on its own accord. It seemed strange to her for a gym leader to use a Pokemon that they hadn't trained properly yet in a gym battle. Her attention snapped back to the battle and her Rapidash when she heard a yelp of pain. The attack from Weavile had worked, and Hikari could tell that Rapidash wouldn't last much longer.
She winced at the sight of the cuts, but turned her attention back to Jun before calling out another attack. Upon hearing his advice, she nodded. She was sure that she could get at least one good attack out of Rapidash.
"I know it's going to be hard, but dodge Weavile as much as you can and use Inferno again!"

"Weavile, listen to me! Use Night Slash, and try to land a critical hit!"
The little Sharp Claw Pokemon barely seemed to listen, but followed the command nonetheless. Before Rapidash could finish charging up Inferno, Weavile slashed it directly in the face.
((oops am i late))
